Ping.fm Failed Posting Issue With Drupal Site

I love Ping.fm for I can submit a post to many sites by just sending to it. It then distributes it to many other sites automatically and these include Twitter, Linkedin, Facebook and lots of others. It’s also free to sign up and use.

In Drupal you start this by downloading and installing Ping.fm module.

Problem is, I’ve failed to get it to work until I got fed up and forget about it. I got this “Failed posting Ping.fm” error every time I wanted notify new post to Ping.fm.

Failed posting Ping.fm

All I know was that I entered the right parameters in Ping.fm module and that includes using my own Ping.fm API but to no avail. It says I can use my own! I was quite at lost.

After some times I thought of searching Drupal forum to see if others had the same problem. I found a post which suggested that I use the API code that was “hidden” within the module which reads like this:

4c625cb344fe57ba6167eb16036c7c35

I use it and voila! it works.

Here’s How I Did It

Enter this code into Ping.fm module as shown below.

Please note that Ping.fm initiation has to be done manually before saving a post, it’s not automatic. In node editing screen, tick the Ping.fm option.

Hit save and you should see “Successfully posted to Ping.fm” message.

Are you having this problem too? I very much hope that this helps.

It would be very interesting if you also found this post through Ping.fm itself smile_regular which shows this really works.

Note:

Just in case you wanted to try using your own API, use this link to see the API page: http://ping.fm/key

Make sure you're logged in to Ping.fm.
